Quinlivan hits late goal to complete hat-trick as Tipp snatch promotion over Armagh

Tipperary will now play Louth in the Division 3 league final next Saturday.

A LAST-GASP Michael Quinlivan goal handed Tipperary Division 3 football league promotion in dramatic fashion this afternoon as they claimed a 3-8 to 0-16 win over Armagh.

Quinlivan pounced in injury-time for a goal that completed a second-half hat-trick for the Clonmel Commercials man as Tipperary denied Armagh at the death in the Athletic Grounds.

Kieran McGeeney’s side looked in control for long stages, possessing a 0-7 to 0-4 interval lead, and despite conceding two early second-half goals to Quinlivan, Armagh were ahead 0-15 to 2-5 with five minutes left.

But Liam Kearns Tipperary team kept battling and were rewarded with Quinlivan’s late strike.

Tipperary will now play Louth, who they lost to last Sunday in Thurles, in the Division 3 league final next Saturday.
