TIPPERARY CLINCHED PROMOTION to Division 3 of the Allianz football league with a five-goal demolition job of Leitrim today.
Peter Creedon’s side travelled to Carrick-on-Shannon for a crucial game against a Leitrim team that were very much in the running for promotion themselves.
But Tipperary triumphed by 5-16 to 0-16 to seal promotion for the Premier side and book a place in the Division 4 final in Croke Park on April 26th.

However Leitrim’s hopes took a massive dent in a game where they were in trouble from the early stages when they shipped goals to their opponents. Tipperary led 3-8 to 0-10 at the interval with Brian Fox and Conor Sweeney netting early on to put them on their way to victory.
Philip Austin notched a crucial goal for Tipperary before the break at a stage when Leitrim were threatening to come back into contention as they grabbed a series of points.
Further second-half goals from Ian Fahey and Sweeney sealed a comprehensive win for Tipperary, who entertain Wicklow next Sunday while Leitrim travel to meet London.
Clare strengthened their cause for promotion with a 3-21 to 2-10 success over Carlow in Ennis. The Banner now know they will go up to Division 3 if they get a win away to Antrim next Sunday.
They got off to a bright start today with a goal from star forward David Tubridy but a brace of goals from Seamus Kinsella brought Carlow back into contention. Clare were in front 1-10 to 2-4 at the break before they really upped the ante in the second-half.
Martin O’Leary and Gary Brennan grabbed goals in the second-half while Tubridy brought his overall tally on the day to 1-9 as Colm Collins side ran out victors by 14 points.

Wicklow are back in the hunt for promotion after their 2-14 to 0-12 success at home to Waterford in Aughrim. Harry Murphy’s side are now on 8 points, just behind Clare on 9 points. Next Sunday, Wicklow travel to take on table-toppers Tipperary.
Two goals from Seanie Furlong were central to today’s success. Wicklow were in front by 0-8 to 0-4 at the interval with the double blast from Furlong sealing their win.
The early game in the basement division today saw Antrim run out 3-15 to 1-10 winners against London in Ruislip.
