Tiger to miss all four majors for the first time as he confirms USPGA withdrawal

The 14-time major winner won’t be at Baltusrol next week for the USPGA Championship.

TIGER WOODS’ ISN’T ready to end his lay-off just yet after it was confirmed that the 14-time major winner won’t be among the field at this year’s USPGA Championship.

According to a statement from the PGA of America, Woods has withdrawn from the tournament at Baltusrol in New Jersey, which tees off a week on Thursday — 28 July.

“We have been in contact with Tiger’s agent, Mark Steinberg, and he informed us today that our four-time PGA Champion will be unable to join us at Baltusrol Golf Club next week for the 98th PGA Championship,” the statement explained.

Woods withdrew from last week’s Open at Royal Troon, which marked the first time in his 20-year professional career that he was absent for three consecutive major tournaments.

The 40-year-old is now set to miss all four majors in 2016 as he continues his recover from a back injury, for which he underwent surgery last September.

Woods, who hasn’t played in a PGA Tour event since he finished 10th in the Wyndham Championship in August 2015, said recently that he wasn’t sure if he’ll play at all this year.

Harold Varner III will take Woods’ place at Baltusrol.
