Tiger closes in on third in the world after Congressional win

Victory in the AT+T National was Woods’ third on the PGA Tour this season.

TIGER WOODS REMAINS fourth on the world rankings, released on Monday, after his third win of the season at the AT&T National, but has closed the gap on top three Luke Donald, Rory McIlroy and Lee Westwood.

Welshman Jamie Donaldson, meanwhile, moves from 116th to a career-high 63rd after his maiden European Tour victory at the Irish Open.

“I guess it takes some people longer than others, and it’s taken me a lot longer than I thought to win,” the Pontypridd-born player said after sealing victory at Royal Portrush.

“The first three years went too quickly and then I was out for a year with injury, so I didn’t find my feet too soon after that, and then I lost my way a bit.

“But over the last two to three years I feel as though I have been building to this win and it’s just so nice to be finally holding this trophy.”
