Müller, Klose, Khedira and Kroos (twice) get Germany off to flying start

The host nation have even more reason to be aggrieved now.

GERMANY WENT FIVE early goals to the good against Brazil and never let up until the final whistle was blown on their host’s World Cup hopes. Thomas Müller scored the opener — his country’s 2,000th international goal — on 10 minutes and Brazilian could not close the floodgates, eventually losing 7-1.

The 24-year-old was somehow unmarked for a 10th minute corner and calmly side-footed past Julio Cesar in the Brazilian goal.

Mirsolav Klose broke all manner of records, on 22 minutes, as he tapped in his own rebound to score his 16th World Cup goal.

Toni Kroos then added two goals in the space of 60 seconds to rock the host nation. The clip (below) is the first of his two strikes.
