This is what the back of the Ireland team bus looks like today...

The squad has paid tribute to goalkeeper Shay Given after news that the record caps holder has called time on his international career.

IN LIGHT OF yesterday’s announcement that Shay Given is hanging up his international boots, the Irish team has paid tribute to the country’s greatest ever goalkeeper.

The squad are in Dublin ahead of a trip to Belgrade for tomorrow night’s friendly with Serbia and have left seats on the team bus empty in honour of four of their missing stalwarts.

Nottingham Forest striker Simon Cox tweeted Given this morning, saying: “The lads decided to send u a retiring present. Retire In Peace.”

Richard Dunne, Damien Duff and Robbie Keane weren’t called up as Giovanni Trapattoni says he wants to try out younger players, and with their futures in a green jersey still uncertain, the back of the bus could be a lonely place during the upcoming World Cup qualifying campaign.
