Henry fails to take 156 tweets of handball bait in #AskThierry

The French striker opted to focus on Arsenal and the MLS in his Twitter session this afternoon.

THE #ASK PHENOMENON continues on Twitter with Thierry Henry the latest sports star to ignore thousands of questions and answer about 10.

We now know — thanks to a Twitter takeover of the @MLS page — that the NewYork Red Bulls striker idolised Marco van Basten as a nipper, was privileged to play with Dennis Bergkamp and that basketball star Tony Parker is his best friend in sport.

What we did not learn, despite the 156 attempts [our last count at 17:30] to goad an answer, was whether or not Henry was sorry for his handball against Ireland in 2009. To re-cap a painful story, Henry handled a bouncing cross and teed-up William Gallas to score the goal that eventually cost Ireland a place at World Cup 2010.

Despite admitting his guilt, and embarrassment, at the time and calling for a replay with Giovanni Trapattoni’s men, many Irish supporters do not appear willing to let the matter rest.

Here is a sample of the #AskThierry tweets that were left unanswered:
