The Giants are a funny bunch – not least eccentric pitcher Brian Wilson – the real life Kenny Powers. ‘The mental assassin’ bemoans being reprimanded for ‘having too much awesome on my feet’ at one stage. Gold.

Former Paraguayan national team goalkeeper, legendary free-kick specialist and all-round nut-ball  Jose Luis Chilavert hates agents and airports. So when he became embroiled in an arguement over transfer fee money with a player representative, there was gonna be smacks.

Agent Pablo Seijas says the argument started when the pair met at Buenos Aires airport and carried on until they landed in Paraguay. That’s impressive. [The Spoiler]

Tim Lovejoy‘s awful new TV advert for pasta appeared on our screens this week. Does the former Soccer AM presenter have a massive tax bill or am I missing something? [The Guardian]

Cork hurling legend Sean Óg Ó hAilpín was forced into retirement by ruthless manager Denis Walsh. The Na Piarsiagh’s man gave one of the most memorable All-Ireland winning speeches when the Rebels beat Galway to the Liam MacCarthy Cup in 2005.

A Peruvian second division side, Hijos de Ascovinchos,  saw four of their players carted off to hospital during a promotion-deciding clash, after gulping down energy drinks handed to them by coaches from the rival team – allegedly spiked with tranquilisers. [The Spoiler]

If you’re not eating at your desk, here’s the KO of the night from UFC 120 in London last Saturday. I could do that. [Thanks to Stephen Kelly ]
