As well as the blockbuster on-field action at Super Bowl XLV and the half-time show from the Black Eyed Peas, the adverts are a staple of America’s biggest sporting night. Kevin Coleman rewinds the Sky Box on the best 10.

10. Coca Cola Mean Joe Greene (1979)

A heart-warming ad in which a young fan offers a drink to a weary-looking Pittsburgh Steeler ‘Mean’ Joe Greene, only for him to down it in one go.

In return, Joe tosses the kid his game worn shirt. Touching.

9. McDonalds (1993)

Two NBA greats, Larry Bird and Michael Jordan, playing a game of Horse over a Big Mac and fries. Enough said?

8. Budweiser Frogs (1995)

One of the most memorable adverts around, the croaking frogs. Bud-Weis-er.

7. Reebok (2003)

Hilarious advert in which a company hires humongous Terry Tate to improve productivity.

6. Fed Ex Castaway (2003)

This fantastic parody of the film Castaway, in which ‘Tom Hanks returns a package he found while stranded on an island. But guess what’s inside.

5. E-Trade Baby (2008)

Who doesn’t love talking babies? E-Trade were right on the money with this fantastic baby advert.

4. Budweiser 9/11 Tribute (2002)

A truly stunning ad, where the trademark Cyldesdale horses make their way to where the 9/11 towers once stood, before bowing their heads to honour those who had passed in the disaster. Superb from Budweiser.

3. Doritos House Rules (2010)

This was one of the favourites from last year’s Super Bowl; a son lays down the law with his momma’s date.

2. Budweiser Wassup (2000)

Everyone was shouting ‘Wassssup’ after this one, and when your idea becomes a phenomenon repeated by millions you know you’ve done a good job.
