KERRY FLEXED THEIR muscles at Croke Park this afternoon to romp into the All-Ireland semi-finals with an emphatic win over Kildare.
The Kingdom cruised to a 27 point victory as they dominated from start to finish, eventually racking up seven goals.
Darran O’Sullivan came off the bench to score two goals while Colm Cooper provided yet more evidence that he’s one of the greatest with a consummate display to score 2-3 of his own.
‘The Gooch’ earned plenty of plaudits for his performance but it wasn’t enough to win over The Sunday Game panel as they handed the man-of-the-match award to David Moran.
Dessie Dolan commended the Kerins O’Rahilly’s man’s work-rate throughout the 7-16 to 0-10 demolition of the Lilywhites.
Stephen O’Brien, who scored 1-4, was the other nominee.
Do you agree with the panel’s selections? Let us know in the comments section.
Some of his foot passing and fielding today was unreal. You don’t have to be a free scorer to play well..
He won them the all Ireland last year. Phenomenally good at times.
David Moran is up their with the jackos mickos and Darragh of great kerry footballers…
Ah here now. Let’s not get carried away. Very good footballer but an awful lot to do yet to hit those heights.
He obviously needs to sustain it to get talked about along side Jacko and the likes but he is brilliant. Some of his performances are as good as any single game played by those you’ve mentioned. He’s a great player. I think he’s Kerrys most influential man in many ways, as was demonstrated by the way Kerry folded once he got black carded in the drawn game with Cork.
I just love the way Moran plays, its all about the football, no bitchin at refs or oposition, jus wants to get on with the game. I was in Limerick last year where he gave an exhibition of high fielding against us(mayo), a klass foitballer
I though Stephen O’Brien deserved MOTM put in a seious shift in with some great scores and helped his backs out all game too
but there is a case of saying feck it and give it to cooper he was brilliant today
Just wondering why they didn’t give it to o Donahue again as he seems to get it every other time. He wouldn’t lace coopers boots. Yes for once they got the man of match right.
I wouldn’t have James O’Donoghue in almost the top ten forwards in the country. Cillian O’Connor, Aidan O’Shea, Michael Murphy, Colm McFadden, Conor McManus, Paul Flynn, Diarmuid Connolly, Ciaran Kilkenny, Alan Brogan, Bernard Brogan, Colm Cooper, Ciaran Donaghy and Sean Cavanagh would get into a team for me before him any day. By far the most overrated player in the country
John – ? Seriously – there are a lot of overrated and over celebrated names in that list that are either trading on history or potential. Half are the better of JOD as they are playing now and on any given day, but no more
Which half?
Yep David Moran pure baller intelligent player & great engine, every GREAT Kerry team that won numerous all-Ireland’s of different era had one quality midfielder mick o Connell jack o Shea dara o se,think this fella bar injury will be held that regard as those legends when finished with his career!
The Gooch for me without doubt, really showed his class. @John there’s a few names there that are ridiculous calls. McFadden, while a brilliant forward, would never be in a team over o’donoghue – for me though he has a lot to prove before being spoken in the same bracket as the likes of the Gooch but has many years ahead
Connolly kicked probably the greatest score e ever seen I croke Park today
Ciaran McDonald in 04 final
Agree 100% Paul off his “weaker” foot aswell best player ive ever seen.can do things no other player would even try.
he’s a wonderful footballer Dec a joy to watch.
Sean Quigley should have won man of the match , His performance for the
underdogs was inspiring
