The Morning Score: Tuesday

A big day at Wimbledon, a lifeline for Ireland’s cricket fans and a new face at Old Trafford.

1. #WIMBLEDON It was a dramatic start to the second week at the All-England Club yesterday.

Both Williams sisters exited along with world number one Caroline Wozniacki while Andy Murray marched on.

Later Rafa Nadal overcame an aching left foot to reach the quarter-finals with a 7-6 (6), 3-6, 7-6 (4), 6-4 win over Juan Martin del Potro while Roger Federer defeated Mikhail Youzhny in four sets.

2. #DUBLIN SUPER CUP Damien Richardson last night named the Airtricity League X1 panel for next month’s Aviva Stadium tournament.

3. #SUMMER SALES David De Gea was last night on the brink of a move to Old Trafford.

The Spanish U-21 arrived in Manchester for his United medical. It will be the third arrival at the club after Phil Jones and Ashley Young. But who is Edwin van der Sar’s replacement?

4. #YOUR SAY Our poll on the merits or otherwise on the crucial referee decision in the last moments of Kildare v Dublin was pretty comprehensive.

Add your two cents and check out the stats here.

5. #HOWZAT? Ireland’s cricket stars have been given a lifeline in their bid to reach another world cup.

The International Cricket Council announced it will review the decision to exclude associate members. The Irish had initially been left out in the cold by the ICC’s decision to limit the next World Cup to its 10 full-member nations.

6. #UFC Check out this ridiculous comeback KO over the weekend with Cheick Kongo catching Pat Barry. I’m liable to do this someday.
