The Morning Score: Thursday

The window’s shut, but here’s everything you need to know before you head out the door.

1.#DAEGU It’s been a good day for the Irish at the world championships.

Deirdre Ryan has qualified for the final of the women’s high jump in Daegu with a 1.95 metres clearance, setting a new Irish record in the process.

She also seals the A qualification standard for next summer’s Olympics in London.

Ryan was told afterwards by reporters that runner Alistair Cragg had secured a place in the world 5000m final, finishing 12 of 16.

2. #RWC2012 Ireland’s rugby players have arrived safe and sound in New Zealand after their epic journey south.

3. #SUMMER SALES Europe’s transfer window slammed shut at 11pm last night with much fanfare and Jim White howling.

You can catch up with all the drama on our minute-by-minute coverage, but last-minute deals included Raul Meireles to Chelsea, Peter Crouch  to Stoke and Mikel Arteta to Arsenal from Everton.

4. #AFL The jig is up for Tadhg Kennelly. The Sydney Swans star says he will hang up his boots at the end of the current AFL season.

5. #GAA The countdown continues to Sunday’s highly-anticipated hurling decider at Croke Park between the aristocrats of Kilkenny and Tipperary.

We’ll liveblog the action throughout the afternoon – though I’m still on the look out for a ticket if you’re reading this, Christy.

In the meantime, Joe Dooley says Brian Cody won’t be beaten twice on the trot.

6. #EURO 2012 Giovanni Trapattoni may today name his side for tomorrow night’s crucial qualifier against Slovakia at the Aviva Stadium.

First-choice goalkeeper Shay Given is carrying knocks to his groin and back but if he starts, one of either Richard Dunne or Sean St Ledger, may take his kick-outs.

7. #YOUTUBE It’s Thursday and that means two for one cocktai…. I mean that means it’s time for our round up the week’s best virals. Send us your favourites to sport@thescore.ie.

We brought you this yesterday – the best pick-up game of the summer. Who needs the NBA anyway?
