HE HAS WON a World Cup, a Champions League and five Serie A titles but Alessandro Del Piero has now been credited with a feat to top them all – waking a young girl from her coma.
The Juventus striker, known to legions of Italians fans as ‘Il Pintoricchio’ (the little painter), responded to the pleas of the Scialese family after their 12-year-old, Giada, suffered a brain hemorrhage.

Giada, from the small town of Cerenzia in southern Italy, fell into a coma while watching a Juventus league match. She remained in the condition for two weeks until they reached out to Del Piero for help.
According to reports the Scialese family made an appeal to the ‘Old Lady’s’ captain for an offering of hope and he duly obliged with a video message.
“Hello Giada, this is Alessandro del Piero. I hope you’ll wake up and come back to us as soon as possible to watch many of my games, to come and see us and, above all, get to know each other.”
Giada’s father, Francesco revealed that, after listening to the message, his girl moved her hand. A few hours later she called out ‘mamma’ and within 24 hours she spoke clearly and put in a request for ice-cream.
Del Piero, a massive fan of Oasis and U2, was not finished with a single act of benevolence in one week as he posted a Valentine’s Day message of ‘I will always love you’ to fans of his official website.

It seems the man, who has scored 27 goals for his country, 205 for the Bianconeri and has served his mandatory year in the Italian Army, just can’t stop giving.
