From Wayne Rooney’s best ever goal tally to the highest scoring season since 1992-93, the figures that tell the tale of the campaign
  • The PL title race was decided on goal difference for the first time.
  • There were 32 PL goals scored today, making a total of 1066 goals scored this season - the most ever goals in a single 38-match PL season.
  • Manchester City win the top flight title for the first time since 1968.
  • Manchester City ended the season with 55 home points – equalling the PL record for most home points in a season – 55 each set by Chelsea in 2005-06 and United last season.
  • Sergio Aguero scored his 23rd PL goal of the season – equal-most of any player in a single season for City – Carlos Tevez’s 23 goals from 2009-10 – and also equal-most with Tevez as the most by a South American player in a PL season.
  • Joey Barton was sent off for QPR. It was the club’s ninth PL red card of the season, equalling the PL record previously set by Sunderland in 2009-10.
  • Manchester United finished the season with a total of 89 points – the first side to reach this total in a 38-match PL season and fail to win the division.
  • Wayne Rooney scored his 27th PL goal of the season, making this the best ever scoring season of his career.
  • Arsenal won Arsene Wenger’s 600th PL match and qualify for the Champions League for the 15th consecutive season under him.
  • Liverpool end the season with their lowest ever PL points total, their fewest wins (14) in a top flight season since 1953-54 and their fewest top flight goals in a season (47) since 1991-92.
