That was quick: Republic of Libya unveils new football kit

The collapse of the Gaddafi regime can only mean one thing: a brand-spanking new kit for the Libyan national football team.

THE NASCENT REPUBLIC of Libya will have its fair share of challenges to surmount and hurdles to clear in the coming months and years, but one thing North Africa’s youngest regime (sorry, South Sudan) won’t have to worry about is designing a new strip for the national team.

Thanks to the forward-thinking marketing department at Adidas, that problem’s already been taken care of.

The new kit, predominantly white, carries the crest of the Republic and a large reproduction of the “new” national flag (a reversion to the pre-Gaddafi green, red and black) on the back.

The Facebook page of Breaking News Libya carries a promotional photo of the jersey, while Feb 17th, the website of the Libyan Youth Movement, managed to obtain a few images of the national side wearing the new colours during a recent training session.
