6 for Cork, 5 for Dublin - here's the LGFA All-Star Team for 2016

Brid Stack named Senior Players’ Player of the Year.

ALL-IRELAND CHAMPIONS Cork have won six TG4/LGFA All-Stars, including a 10th individual award for midfield star Briege Corkery.

Beaten finalists Dublin fill five places on the team which was announced on Saturday night with two Monaghan players and one apiece from Kildare and Mayo completing the selection.

Cork’s Brid Stack, winner of her seventh All-Star, was also named Senior Players’ Player of the Year while Kildare’s Aisling Holton and Longford’s Mairead Reynolds took home the Intermediate and Junior prizes.

After a season which saw Cork win a remarkable 11th All-Ireland title in 12 seasons, Corkery and Stack are joined by Marie Ambrose, Deirdre O’Reilly, captain Ciara O’Sullivan and star forward Orla Finn.

Tonight saw fifth All-Stars for Dublin duo Sinead Goldrick and Sinead Aherne, who are joined by team-mates Leah Caffrey, Noelle Healy and Carla Rowe.

Kildare’s Mary Hulgraine was named in goal, Fiona McHale of Mayo took one of the two midfield places while Monaghan’s Gráinne McNally and Ciara McAnespie complete the selection.

    No Cora Staunton….are they having a laugh? Seriously how does she not get an all star? Saw her play a few weeks ago and she’s better than a lot of the men playing Gaelic.

    Hard to believe there’s 3 Dublin forwards when they struggled so badly to put the ball over the bar in the final. You’d have to wonder about credibility of this.
