Former Cavan boss Terry Hyland appointed as new Leitrim football manager

Hyland was manager of his native Cavan from 2012-2016.

TERRY HYLAND IS the new Leitrim senior football manager.

The Cavan native’s appointment was ratified this evening by the Leitrim county board following their search to replace Brendan Guckian.

One of the masterminds behind Cavan’s success at U21 level, Hyland took charge of the county’s senior footballers in 2012 and remained there for four-and-a-half seasons.

He guided the county to the All-Ireland quarter-finals in 2013 as well as to promotion to Division 1 in 2016, but despite that league success, he stepped down in the summer of 2016 following Cavan’s championship exit against Derry.

Details of Hyland’s management team will be announced “at a later stage”, Leitrim said.
