Former Cavan boss Terry Hyland appointed as new Leitrim football manager

Hyland was manager of his native Cavan from 2012-2016.

TERRY HYLAND IS the new Leitrim senior football manager.

The Cavan nativeโ€™s appointment was ratified this evening by the Leitrim county board following their search to replace Brendan Guckian.

One of the masterminds behind Cavanโ€™s success at U21 level, Hyland took charge of the countyโ€™s senior footballers in 2012 and remained there for four-and-a-half seasons.

He guided the county to the All-Ireland quarter-finals in 2013 as well as to promotion to Division 1 in 2016, but despite that league success, he stepped down in the summer of 2016 following Cavanโ€™s championship exit against Derry.

Details of Hylandโ€™s management team will be announced โ€œat a later stageโ€, Leitrim said.
