Tennis player smacked in the head by 120kph serve from doubles partner

She should have crouched lower, of course.

FOUR MINUTES INTO their Women’s Doubles match against the 16th seeds, Monica Niculescu and Klara Koukalova were an early break up and serving for a 2-0 lead.

With opponents Garbine Muguruza and Carla Suarez Navarro at the opposite end of the court, Koukalova let rip with a serve that clocked a shade over 120kph. Unfortunately for Koukalova, and more unfortunately for her doubles partner, the errant serve clattered Niculescu in the back of the head.

The Romanian was forced to take a seat for two minutes before returning to the court. To make matters worse, the Czech-Romanian duo lost 2-6, 6-4, 4-6 and were eliminated.
