Ted Potter claims maiden PGA win

The 28-year-old sealed the win with a four-foot birdie putt on the third extra hole, the par-three 18th, after Troy Kelly had missed a longer attempt.

ROOKIE TED POTTER Jr has taken out his first title with a nervy play-off win over Troy Kelly at the Greenbrier Classic on Sunday.

The 28-year-old sealed the win with a four-foot birdie putt on the third extra hole, the par-three 18th, after Kelly had missed a longer attempt.

The pair were tied at 16-under-par overall before Potter let slip a golden opportunity to win at the second play-off hole, the par-five 17th. A relieved Potter had a birdie-putt for the win in his sights but the ball lipped out from five feet.

It was an impressive final day overall for Potter, who came from behind through a six-under 64 final round. South Korean Charlie Wi was two shots back at 14 under in equal third with American Charlie Beljan.

Compatriots Daniel Summerhays (13 under) and Martin Flores (12 under) were fifth and sixth respectively. Rod Pampling and Gavin Coles, meanwhile were the best of the Australians at seven under while compatriot Marc Leishman was well down the order at four over after a final round two-over 72.
