FIVE-TIME EUROPEAN champion and current AIBA world champion Katie Taylor took home the top award from last night’s IABA Annual Awards ceremony at the Green Isle Hotel in Dublin.
The 25-year-old enjoyed a highly successful 2011, retaining her titles at both the European Amateur and European Union Amateur Championships. Taylor underscored her success by participating in a high-profile advertising campaign for the sports drink Lucozade.
The ceremony also honoured the achievements of John Joe Nevin, Ray Moylette, Joe Ward, Darren O’Neill and Michael Conlan, each of whom was recognised alongside Taylor in the Elite International Achievers category.
