AS EXPECTED SPAIN walloped Tahiti in the Confederations Cup tonight, running out 10-0 winners in Rio de Janeiro.

Fernando Torres scored four but for many neutrals, the highlight of the night came in the 78th minute when, with Spain already 8-0 up, he blasted a penalty against the bar.

Tahiti keeper Mikael Roche didn’t even touch the ball but he made sure to celebrate, pointing to the heavens in thanks as if the miss had just kept the minnows in with a chance of a historic upset.

The joy was short-lived though and moments later, Torres did get Spain’s ninth.

David Villa also scored a hat-trick while David Silva (2) and Juan Mata completed the rout.
