SVEN-GORAN ERIKSSON will sign a contract with Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal next month, according to reports.
The Swede had been linked with the vacant positions at Fulham and Aston Villa over the summer after his Ivory Coast side had a disappointing World Cup, going out in the group stage after losses to Brazil and Portugal.
Sven has reportedly signed a one-year deal worth £1.2 million to coach Al Hilal, succeeding Belgian manager Eric Gerets once the Saudi club’s AFC Champion’s League campaign is over. Gerets is moving to manage the Moroccan national team.
Al Hilal, based in the Saudi capital of Riyadh, are twelve-time winners of the domestic league and twice winners of the AFC Champion’s League. They will play Al Gharrafa of Qatar in the quarter finals of this year’s competition this Wednesday. The final is in mid-November, so Sven could have to wait until then to take charge of the team.
