Brett Pittman’s cameo effectively ended QPR’s hopes of automatic promotion.

BOURNEMOUTH DEFEATED QPR 2-1 on Saturday to boost their promotion playoff hopes and, at the same time, help Leicester make the leap to the Premier League.

Athletic boss Eddie Howe made one of the managerial masterstrokes of the season when he brought on forward Brett Pitman six minutes into injury time. Pittman sprinted straight for the near post and proved the hero moments later as he headed a goal-bound effort off the line. The final whistle blew and Pittman’s 10-second cameo proved extremely valuable.
