Sunderland pair quizzed over car-wrecking spree

Nicklas Bendtner and Lee Cattermole have been questioned by police over an incident which occured close to Newcastle United’s St James’ Park.

SUNDERLAND PLAYERS NICKLAS Bendtner and Lee Cattermole have reportedly been questioned by police over an incident in which a number of cars were vandalised.

Police launched an investigation after the vehicles were attacked in Newcastle and the pair, both 23, were quizzed on suspicion of causing criminal damage yesterday afternoon.

According to The Evening Chronicle’s website, a spokesperson from Northumbria Police said:

“Police can confirm that on Thursday, December 15, two men aged 23 were arrested on suspicion of criminal damage.

“If follows an investigation in to damage caused to cars on Stowell Street in Newcastle city centre, which happened at about 10pm on Tuesday, December 6.”

It is believed that at least three cars were damaged just minutes away from Newcastle United’s home ground, St James’ Park.

Bendtner, who was allegedly involved in a separate incident in a pizzaria recently, is currently out injured while midfielder Cattermole also missed Martin O’Neill’s first game in charge because of suspension.
