WATERFORD AND GALWAY were the winners in the All-Ireland hurling quarter finals this afternoon, both puling away in the second half to make it back into the last four.
In the opening game of the day, Derek McGrath’s young guns proved too much for Dublin, with teenager Shane Barrett and Maurice Shanahan rattling the net en route to the five point win.
Donal Óg Cusack and Henry Shefflin were in the studio this evening, and they opted for both Shanahan and Bennett in the Man-of-the-Match discussion, as well as Dublin’s Ryan O’Dwyer.
But despite being sweet on the sensational Bennett, it was Maurice Shanahan – who bagged 1-12 – that took home the award to the south-east.
Galway brothers Cathal and Padraig Mannion both got the nod in the discussion for the Tribesmen’s best performers, but ultimately it was Johnny Glynn who was picked as the Man-of-the-Match.
After firing 1-2 in the win, Glynn got a little bit excited during his first post match interview, so it was nice to see that RTÉ didn’t bear any grudges after his post match interview.
Did Henry and Donal get it right? Let us know in the comments below.
McAteer never fails to have a go at Kerr any chance he gets. Strange after so many years. He made his disrespect for Kerr’s suitability for the job clear in his book. Maybe that’s the way he acted towards Kerr from day 1.
I dont like him. He is a mouth piece. It took nearly 10 days….so is that 9 days then? Why not just say 9 days then
Hopefully there is just as big a turnout for this as there was for the Liam Miller tribute. Sean didn’t play Premier League football so won’t have earned the millions that footballers do. He also needs on going care. All in all the Cox family which be much more in need of the money than the Miller family.
@John Horan: well i hope you have ur ticket then.
He was never a International player more like a headless chicken.
