STEVEN GERRARD LOOKS set to take charge of a Liverpool academy team next season as he continues to work his way up the coaching ladder at the club.
After calling time on his illustrious career last summer, Gerrard has been involved in the Reds’ youth system in a non-specified role since January, and has been seen working closely with the U18 team.
When asked about Gerrard’s role within the club at a press conference this afternoon, Klopp confirmed that he’s ‘pretty sure’ the former Liverpool captain will coach a team from next year.
“There is not a real announcement in this moment, but what I can probably say is ‘yes’,” Klopp said.
“He is doing a real job at the Academy at the moment with his presence and everything, being around and giving advice and leading little or bigger sessions and all that stuff.
“They all enjoy it a lot. He especially enjoys it a lot.
“Yes, he will be the coach of a youth team next season, I’m pretty sure. But we will tell you exactly which team when we want to tell you.”

He’ll slip right into that role
It’s just destined to happen. Stevie Gerrard the manager of LFC. Just sounds so right.
@BoomBoomBonnie: It is just destined to happen. BoomBoomBonnie/Alan the 40 year old virgin. Just sounds so right.
@Brian: mmmmm ok. Someone’s a moany Micheal today.
Seems right that a player who never won a PL title or medal should manage a club that’s not won a PL either……. match made in heaven … roll on the laughter years again ….
@Johnny Bravo: what do you mean Liverpool won league 18 times and are England’s most successful team.
@BoomBoomBonnie: Johnny bravo is a bellend
What a player he was for liverpool in 16 years, comparing him to paul scholes would be offensive to stevie G and paul scholes was a decent player but he can be thankful that he ever played with gerrard
@John Delaney: Hilarious comment and your name only adds to it
@John Delaney: very overrated player Scholes. Couldn’t run dribble tackle head. Average at a stretch. Gerarrd and lampard and viera and Keane top midfielders.
@John Delaney: I’m a liverpool fan and I think Stevie was better but if you say don’t compare why the fcuk did you compare ?
Blahahahaha
English Teams With Most Major Trophies Titles
After winning the 2016 FA Cup and 2017 EFL Cup Manchester united overtaken Liverpool as the most successful teams in English football as far as major trophies are concerned. (English Division 1 titles, FA Cup, League Cup, Champions League, UEFA Cup). Manchester United now have 42 major titles (20 League titles, 12 FA Cups, 5 league cups, 3 Champions League and 2 FIFA Club World Cups). Liverpool on the other hand have 41 (18 league titles, 7 FA Cups, 8 League Cups, 5 European Cups, 3 UEFA Cups). If we further expand trophy list with the likes of community shield and the UEFA Super Cup etc United out-scores Liverpool with 66-60 titles.
@Johnny Bravo: But we will stick with only the major trophies where United became the most successful team in English football history with 42 major titles.
Blahahahaha Blahahahaha Blahahahaha
@Johnny Bravo: what has this got to do with Gerrard getting a new job?
@Joe Bloggs: sorry joe just putting bonnie/Alan/neeneee/5times/Mucus etc and his silly comment to bed once and for all
@Johnny Bravo: Sorry to break it to you but a quick Google search will tell you Liverpool are the most successful team in British football history. 46 major honours. Just saying.
Are you 12 years old Johnny or are you from Manchester or do you play for Manchester United? I feel like its bothering you too much.
If he is half as good a manager as he was a player that would be something else.
