One of the key reasons behind Leicester's Premier League success set for Everton move

LEICESTER ASSISTANT BOSS and head of recruitment Steve Walsh is understood to be set to join Everton, with reports today suggesting that a deal has been agreed between the two clubs.

Walsh, who joined the Foxes in 2011 after a stint as a Chelsea scout, was seen as one of the unsung heroes of Leicester’s shock Premier League title success last season, as he was credited with the astute signings of Riyad Mahrez and N’Golo Kante, both of whom played starring roles in the 2015-16 campaign.

It’s been well documented how Walsh was key in persuading boss Claudio Ranieri to sign Kante — who has just joined Chelsea in a €38 million deal — last summer.

Meanwhile, the Foxes bought Mahrez — last season’s PFA Player of the Year — for a bargain of just under €500,000 from Le Havre in 2014.

51-year-old Walsh only signed a new Leicester contract in the wake of their title success last May, and reports suggest that he is in line to become the Toffees’ sporting director.

The deal would be a further signal of intent from new Everton owner Farhad Moshiri, who has also recruited ex-Southampton boss Ronald Koeman as manager.
