Retired hooker scorches in 80 metre try against Aussie legends

Perhaps this is the new gameplan Munster coach Rob Penney is aiming for?

AUSTRALIA ARRIVED AT the Twickenham Stoop last night, intent on avenging their 2003 World Cup final defeat to England.

Both countries met in a legends encounter but, this time out, England could not rely on the kicking skills of outhalf Jonny Wilkinson to get them over the line. It mattered not — they had retired hooker Steve Thompson.

Thompson, who quit the game in 2007 and again in 2011 with neck injuries, returned to the rugby field to score the greatest try of his rugby career in 17 — 12 win. Check it out:
