Former Liverpool defender Stephen Warnock scores a freaky 40-yard free

The Leeds United player got a massive assist from the swirling winds at Yeovil.

STEPHEN WARNOCK WAS looking to curl a free kick into the Yeovil box in the hope that Jimmy Kebe or Ross McCormack would get their head on the ball. Five crazy, swirling seconds later and his 40-yard free-kick was nestling in the back of the Yeovil goal.

The former Liverpool defender’s 62nd minute goal clinched a 2-1 win that will cheer up Leeds fans after the latest takeover fiasco at the club.

Current United biss Brian McDermott told the BBC post-match, “From what I can gather [prospective owner Massimo Cellino] is coming to the game against Brighton. Hopefully we will sit down and have a conversation and maybe a meal together and see where we go from there.”
