TWO OF TYRONE’S most decorated footballers have reportedly called it a day with the county’s senior side.
Stephen O’Neill and Martin Penrose won five All-Ireland senior football medals between them but it now looks like their careers are set to draw to a close.
BBC Sport Northern Ireland has reported his morning that both players have bowed out of inter-county football after The Belfast Telegraph earlier today revealed that Penrose was set to bow out.
TheScore.ie has been in contact today with a Tyrone county board official who has confirmed that a statement is expected soon on the issue.
O’Neill won All-Ireland medals with Tyrone in 2003, 2005 and 2008 while Penrose waqs part of the triumphs in 2005 and 2008.
In 2005 O’Neill won the ‘Footballer of the Year’ award and won Allstar awards that same year as well as in 2001 and 2009. O’Neill did previously retire in 2008 but return late that season before Tyrone claimed the Sam Maguire.
Here’s some of the brilliant scores O’Neill served up over the years.
