Stade Francais scrum-half cited for alleged Stringer 'spit'

Jerome Fillol will appear before a disciplinary hearing in Dublin this Thursday.

STADE FRANCAIS SCRUM-HALF Jerome Fillol has been cited for allegedly spitting at Peter Stringer.

Video footage from Saturday’s Amlin Challenge Cup quarter-final between Bath and Stade Francais at the Recreation Ground appeared to show Fillol spit in Stringer’s face when the two clashed in the first half.

The Frenchman was cited by match commissioner Eugene Ryan under Rule 10.4(m): Acts contrary to good sportsmanship and is due to appear before a disciplinary hearing in Dublin this Thursday, 11 April.

If found guilty Fillol will face a sanction of upwards of four weeks and could be banned for seven weeks or more if the disciplinary panel deem the incident to be a mid-range or top-end offence.

“Disgusted at what happened yesterday in the game,” Stringer, who is on loan at Bath from Munster, tweeted. “No place for it in rugby or any walk of life.”
