Connolly inspires St Vincent's to victory over Ballyboden St Enda's

The Dublin forward scored two goals in tonight’s second semi-final.

St Vincent’s 4-12
Ballyboden St Enda’s 0-15

DUBLIN ACE DIARMUID Connolly netted twice as St Vincent’s used goals as their battering ram to a county final spot.

The talented forward was on target in either half while Ciaran Dorney and defender Kevin Bonnie also hit vital majors.

They were crucial strikes as Ballyboden bossed the play for much of the first-half and scored an impressive 10 points to Vins’ 3-3.

But a ‘Boden side backboned by Footballer of the Year nominee Michael Darragh Macauley were ultimately overcome in the second-half.

Macauley make a couple of trademark lung bursting runs and played sub Alan Flood in for a shot that crashed off the bar.

But after reducing their arrears to one point early in the half, ‘Boden soon leaked a second goal to Connolly and were unable to recover.

Vincent’s found it easier to come by scores in the last 20 minutes with Shane Carthy notching two fine scores while Connolly took his own tally to 2-2.

Connolly and ex-Dublin forward Quinn formed a thrilling double act and Quinn helped himself to four points.

The placed ball specialist should have shot a goal too but blasted a 40th minute penalty kick wide.

Andrew Kerin top scored for Conor Deegan’s ‘Boden with 10 points but it was in vain as 2008 All-Ireland champions Vins powered on to a meeting with last year’s beaten finalists Ballymun.
