ST GERALD’S CASTLEBAR are Connacht champions once again after two late goals denied St Attracta’s Tubbercurry in the Colleges A Football Final this afternoon.
Chasing their first title, it was Attracta’s who raced into an 11-point lead early on thanks to three quick-fire goals.
Jason Perry scored a penalty either side of Darragh Kilcoyne’s goal to put the Sligo school 3-2 to 0-1 up inside the first 15 minutes.

But Gerald’s stuck to their task and Philip Ruddy’s goal helped cut the gap to four, and they trailed 3-4 to 1-6 at the break before taking advantage of the wind in the second half.
Attracta’s had one hand on the title but were stunned by two goals inside the final five minutes as Gerald’s set up a date with Pobalscoil Corca Dhuibhne in the Hogan Cup semi-final on 29 March.

Scoil na Trinóide Naofa Doon bounced back from their Harty Cup disappointment to book their place in the All-Ireland Colleges A Hurling semi-finals.
The Limerick school were four-point winners against Presentation College Athenry in Clare this afternoon and will play Kilkenny CBS.
St Kieran’s Kilkenny needed extra time in today’s other quarter-final before they beat St Brigid’s Loughrea 4-22 to 2-22 in Birr. They now play Ardscoil Rís in the semi-finals.
