Gary Rogers (Sligo Rovers) – The Bit O’Red may have been beaten 3-0 by Dundalk but it would have been a whole lot more but for several super stops from their number one.
Defence
Dan Byrne (Bohemians) - One of the better performers in a dull Dublin derby, and showed again that he is growing in confidence at this level
Dan Murray (Cork City) - Showed all his experience in horrendous conditions to ensure Cork made it three wins from three in the space of a week. The centre-back marshalled the imposing Akinade throughout and didn’t allow Bray a sniff.

Sean Gannon (Dundalk) – Thrust forward time and time again with Sligo’s midfield men failing to track the right back. Another performance of solid defending and swashbuckling forward play.
Midfield
Daryl Horgan (Dundalk) – The former Bit O’Red wingman was in imperious form at Oriel Park, giving stand in full back Jeff Henderson a torrid afternoon with a display of direct running and nimble footwork. Deserved his fine goal.
Colin Healy (Cork City) – Sat deep throughout his sides’ win over Bray and orchestrated proceedings from the outset. Had a large hand to play in both goals as his curling free-kick cannoned off the ‘keeper and in and then he was coolness personified to secure all three points in the dying embers from the spot.
Jason Hughes (Limerick) - Tireless performance after tireless performance has earned Hughes the respect of the League after making the step up from junior football. The young midfielder ensured that the Saints didn’t have the time on the ball they’re used to and hounded ball carriers all night.
Barry McNamee (Derry City) - The lively midfielder was at the heart of everything that was good for the home side in the final third. Constantly making space and looking for the ball and played Rory Patterson through on goal twice in the second half with superb through-balls.
Patrick McEleney (Derry City) – Showed tremendous pace and power to get past his man for the second goal and played an incisive pass to Patterson for the second strike. Always dangerous.
Forwards
Kurtis Byrne (Dundalk) – The Dubliner kept his place after the Drogheda hammering and excelled alongside Hoban. His goal was expertly taken and well deserved.
Danny Galbraith (Limerick) – The Scot put in a Man of the Match performance as Limerick stunned the Champions at Thomond Park. Scoring a fantastic goal to take the lead, Galbratih then assisted Hughes in sealing the three points.
