'It's the Bieber effect' as Sprinter Sacre brings thousands to Punchestown

And he lived up to the hype.

THOUSANDS OF IRISH racing fans were treated to seeing Sprinter Sacre in full flow at Punchestown this evening.

The Nicky Henderson-trained seven-year-old extended his record to 10 out of 10 over fences at the Kildare venue, as he saw off Sizing Europe by five-and-a-half lengths in the Boylesports Champion Chase.

The 1-9 favourite was welcomed home by a much-impressed crowd with jockey Barry Geraghty insisting Sacre has ‘the Bieber effect’.
