Sports Film of the Week: Broad Street Bullies

This week we’ve got a special treat for ice hockey fans.

Title: Broad Street Bullies

From: HBO Sports

Plot: The 2010 film chronicles the rise of the Philadelphia Flyers from their inception in 1967. They gained success thanks to a motley crew of larger than life players such as  Dave “The Hammer” Schultz, Bobby Clarke, Bill Barber, and Bernie Parent – who regularly fought their way through games.

What the critics said: “Arguably the greatest collection of colourful personalities in a sports documentary… The Philadelphia Flyers developed a unique style of hockey, earning them a most fitting nickname in reference partly to their arena’s location.” – Andy Foster

Random YouTube comment: “The Flyers win the Stanley Cup! THE FLYERS WIN THE STANLEY CUP!!! Literally get chills every single time I hear a commentator yell that out!” – zukuzukuzuna

Usual suspects: Eight 5-a-side types we’ve ALL played with…
