Sports Film of the Week: An Exile's home in The Bronx

The 2012 documentary charts New York’s ambitious drive to make an impact in the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship.

Title: An Exile’s home in The Bronx

Produced by: Aeterno Productions (Cillian O’Conchuir)

Directed by: Niall McCann

Released: 2012

Plot: The documentary follows the New York football team, and the immigrants that make up their squad, as they dream of All-Ireland success a long way from home. While An Exile’s home focuses on New York’s preparations for a Connacht championship clash with Roscommon, viewers also get a glimpse of the men living in a foreign land but yearning to stay connected to Ireland.

Random comment about An Exile’s home: “Good look at life in New York and all the shapes it’s took for those players and their families. Wish RTE would do something similar following one of the ‘home’ counties around for the season. T’would be an actual good idea, so we won’t be getting that.” – Syferus (GAA Board)
