The Aberdeen winger is one of two Irish players included with Galway native Joe Shaugnessy selected for helping St Johnstone to a top-six finish, while treble winners Celtic have five representatives.

Hayes finished the season with the most top-flight assists as well as scoring nine goals in 32 league appearances for Aberdeen, who finished second behind Celtic and reached the Scottish Cup final.

The 29-year-old Dubliner, capped three times by Martin O’Neill, continues to excel at Pittodrie and will link up with the Ireland squad ahead of Sunday’s friendly against Uruguay and the World Cup qualifier with Austria.

Shaugnessy featured in all 38 of St Johnstone’s league outings and joins Celtic’s Kieran Tierney, Shay Logan of Aberdeen and Partick Thistle centre back Liam Lindsay in the end of season XI.
