SOUTH AFRICA COULD be set to follow up its successful hosting of last year’s World Cup Finals by launching a bid for the Olympic Games.
International Olympic Committee president Jacques Rogge says that the country is ready to take on another major sporting event and the BBC reports that the Games could hit the African continent as soon as 2020.
“I felt a genuine desire, speaking to politicians and the president that they want to bid in the future,” Rogge said.
“South Africa proved during the World Cup that they are ready for a major event. As a nation they are ready to host the Olympic Games.”
