Willie le Roux given one-week ban for aerial hit on Tiernan O'Halloran

The fullback was fortunate not to be issued a red card in the first half of yesterday’s Test.

SOUTH AFRICA FULLBACK Willie le Roux has been banned for a week following his aerial challenge on Ireland’s Tiernan O’Halloran yesterday.

The Springbok’s offence was referred to the TMO during the first half of the narrow third Test defeat in Port Elizabeth, but Rowan Kitt and referee Glen Jackson deemed the action worthy of just a yellow card.

Citing commissioner James Absaloms last night cited Le Roux under Law 10.4 (i) and today the disciplinary committee headed by Terry Willis upheld the complaint, deeming the offence worthy of a red card and, ultimately, a one-week ban.
