Solid results for Harrington and Lowry in Asia

Padraig Harrington and Shane Lowry finished in a share for third at different events in the Far East on Sunday.

PADRAIG HARRINGTON DECLARED himself satisfied with his form after finishing in a share for third at the Iskandar Johor Open in Malaysia on Sunday.

The Dubliner completed his four days in 200 strokes, two shots behind eventual winner Joost Luiten. The Dutchman won the tournament with a score of 15-under-par.

It might have been even better for the three-time Major champion though, as he started the event strongly and just fell short of forcing a play-off when he missed the 18th green with his final approach shot.

“I was happy with a lot of things this week,” the Irishman told reporters afterwards (see EuropeanTour.com).

“I’m happy with my form, I’m happy with the way I’m playing and most of all I’m happy with where my head was at. I’m just a little disappointed with the finished result, but you can’t win them all.”

“When you get that close, put yourself in contention, you want to pull it off. But it’s not always possible, and Joost obviously played very well. At least it gives me a lot of confidence for the last couple of events.”

Shane Lowry, meanwhile, claimed joint third at the Dunlop Phoenix competition in Japan. The event was won by Toshinori Muto, who produced a stunning 63 to beat overnight leader Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano of Spain into second.

The former Irish Open champion ended up on seven-under and shared third with Ricky Barnes of America. Tweeting later in the day, he said:
