STAYING TRUE TO his word, Ireland manager Giovanni Trapattoni arrived in Inchicore this evening to take in St Patrick’s Athletic v Drogheda United on the opening night of the Airtricity League season.
There was doubt cast over whether the game would go ahead when referee Alan Kelly called a pitch inspection with less than an hour to go before kick-off. However, he gave it the all-clear and last season’s runners up kicked-off against the third placed side.
On a rare visit to watch League of Ireland football, Trap looked in high spirits and even posed for a picture with Saints mascot ‘Paddy the Panther’.

Having named his squad for this month’s World Cup qualifying double header earlier today, the Italian made his way to Richmond Park.
