It was another miserable night for Sligo and Micky Adams.

SLIGO ROVERS’ SURVIVAL hopes were dealt a hammer blow this evening as they fell to a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Bohemians.

Bohs continue their hunt for a European spot, thanks to first-half goals from Ismahil Akinade and Anto Murphy.

In a lively first-half, it was the Gypsies who made the most of their efforts, scoring twice before the break to give Sligo a difficult task for the second period of play.

Both sides were well matched, and that was reflected in their shots on target tally, which stood at two for both.

Rovers’ only efforts of note came from Morten Nielsen and Sander Puri, but efforts count for nothing unless they hit the back of the net.

And Keith Long’s men certainly made sure they did. Ismahil Akinade got on to the end of a Dylan Hayes flick on, and his excellent header beat Brush in goal to make it 1-0 with 37 minutes played.

And just eight minutes later, they doubled their lead. A man who once donned a Rovers shirt was the one to inflict further misery on his former employers.

The unmarked Anto Murphy rose highest to meet a Jake Kelly corner, and with no-one challenging, he scored past Brush with ease.

Rovers misery continued into the second-half, as they failed to trouble the Bohs back four.

Only for a quick reaction save from Brush, it could have been worse. A defensive mix up between Donelon and Keane left Akinade to shoot at goal, but Brush got in the way.
