DUNDALK GOT BACK to winning ways with a 2-1 victory over Sligo Rovers at The Showgrounds.
The Bit o’Red took the lead through Morten Nielsen in the first half, but a Danny Ledwith own goal levelled the scoring, before Richie Towell’s second half penalty put the Lilywhites in front.
All eyes were on the dug-out at The Showgrounds this evening, as rumours circulate about Owen Heary’s future at Sligo Rovers. The Dubliner was not present on the night, but Joseph Ndo took hold of matters for the evening.

And the Bit o’Red looked like a new side as the game kicked off, with Morten Nielsen storming forward in the opening seconds, but Alan Keane was unable to connect to his pass. That move set the tempo for the opening few minutes, with Sander Puri almost opening the scoring after just three minutes. Sander Puri’s shot from close range had all the beating of Gary Rogers, but Andy Boyle just got there in the nick of time to clear it off the line.
The hosts took the lead after just eight minutes. Striker Morten Nielsen claimed his aim at the start of the season was to net 20 goals, but it took until this evening for him to score his first in the league.
He burst forward and from 20 yards blasted past Gary Rogers to give struggling Sligo Rovers the lead.

But, the league leaders started to push on, and pegged Sligo back in their own half, while also struggling to put together a decent move. But, they crawled their way back into the game, thanks to an unfortunate error. Daryl Horgan’s cross took an awkward bounce, before taking a slight touch off Sligo’s Danny Ledwith and beating Brush in goal.
That was exactly what the Lilywhites needed, and they took the lead in the 56th minute. Alan Keane was adjudged to have handled the ball in the box, and Richie Towell stepped up, slotting past Brush to make it 2-1.
