OWEN HEARY PICKED up his first home win of the season, with a 2-0 victory over Drogheda United at The Showgrounds on Saturday evening.
Two first-half goals from striker Donny Corcoran were enough to seal a victory for the Bit O’Red for only the second time this season.
Rovers had a dream start to the game, taking the lead after just three minutes, through former Drogheda man Corcoran. Captain David Cawley picked out the striker, who fired into the back of the net.
The hosts had further chances from Cawley and Sander Puri, but it was Corcoran who would once again punish Drogheda for their poor defending just before half-time.

Danny Ledwith’s ball from the left picked out Corcoran, whose header could not be stopped by Schlingermann in goal.
Sligo again had the best of the chances in the second-half, with Corcoran coming close to a hat-trick, and Steven Beattie also coming very close on more than one occasion.
Chances for the visitors were few and far between, and chances for Jason Marks and Carl Walshe ultimately came to nothing.
In the dying seconds, John Russell came close with a low range effort, which he tried to squeeze in past Schlingermann, but his effort hit the post.
