Silver medal success for Ireland's Aileen Reid at World Triathlon Series Grand Final

The Irish athlete finished 8th overall.

IRISH ATHLETE AILEEN Reid has claimed a silver medal at the World Triathlon Series Grand Final in London today.

Reid finished second in today’s race, ahead of Australia’s Emma Moffatt in third, while Britain’s Non Stanford (the overall winner) secured first place

Reid finished 8th overall at the event, which is a significant improvement on her previous best finish of 17th.

“I was running with Jodie and Moffy and I just thought how am I staying here? I felt good and saw I got a wee bit of a gap on Jodie, so I just pushed more and more to see if I could get a medal.

“I’m totally delighted with second place… it’s amazing.

“I’ve been consistent all year but that result was just the icing on the cake.”
