JACK BYRNE’S FINE season at club level continued at the weekend.
The 20-year-old Irish midfielder, who is on loan at Cambuur from Man City, scored a fantastic goal in his side’s loss to PSV.
It was Byrne’s fourth goal in 27 appearances, and he has been receiving plenty of praise for his eye-catching performances, despite the Dubliner’s team struggling at the bottom of the Dutch Eredivisie.
Yet despite his excellent displays, Byrne is very much an outside contender for the Euros. While Martin O’Neill acknowledged his promise by allowing him to train with the Irish senior team ahead of recent friendlies against Switzerland and Slovakia, he has yet to be properly called up to even a provisional squad.
