IRELAND HAVE IT all to do following defeat to Scotland in today’s opening Hurling/Shinty International Series test.
Michael Walsh’s side trail their hosts by nine points after a 3-14 to 2-8 reversal in Inverness this afternoon, Scotland’s first win over Ireland since 2010.
The hosts had the best possible start with Kevin Bartlett and Roddy McDonald helping them into a 1-6 to no score lead with 22 minutes gone.
A Conor Lehane goal for Ireland wasn’t enough to turn the momentum in the game and further points from Bartlett as well as Paul McArthur gave Scortland a 1-10 to 1-3 lead at the break.

Shortly after the restart, McDonald had his second goal of the game and though Patrick ‘Bonner’ Maher pulled back a goal for Ireland, a late Bartlett maximum gives Scotland a big week ahead of the second test in Páirc Esler, Newry next Saturday.
Scotland last won the Hurling/Shinty International Series outright in 2008.
