MILLWALL WERE ELIMINATED from the EFL Cup last night in spite of a stunning goal from their Irish midfielder Shaun Williams.

The 29-year-old Dubliner, who has previously played for the likes of Dundalk and Sporting Fingal, came off the bench in the 73rd minute of their second-round game at home to Nottingham Forest and equalised with an incredible strike from just inside Forest’s half.

Unfortunately from an Irish perspective, the goal was scored at the expense of a fellow Dubliner. Stephen Henderson, son of the current Cobh Ramblers manager of the same name, was in goal for Forest.

Nevertheless, Williams’ effort wasn’t enough to send Millwall into the third round as Lars Veldwijk scored with three minutes remaining to give Forest a 2-1 win.
