Galway footballer Shane Walsh to miss Mayo game after breaking hand

The Tribesmen are in action next week.

GALWAY HAVE BEEN dealt a blow ahead of their crunch Connacht semi-final clash with Mayo next week with the news that ace forward Shane Walsh has broken his hand in a car accident.

The Kilkerrin/Clonberne clubman was taken to hospital and will now miss Galway’s meeting with Mayo and is likely to be out for a number of weeks as the championship is about to reach full swing.

After winning an All-Ireland under-21 title with the Tribesmen in 2013, Walsh was crucial in Galway reaching the All-Ireland quarter-finals last year through the back door where they were beaten by Kerry.

The 22-year-old produced one of the moments of the championship with his superb point against Tipperary in round 4 of the qualifiers, and was nominated for both an All-star and young footballer of the year.

We wish Shane well with his recovery.
